Building Jatulintarha

The worksite is bustling: main contractor Wasacon’s job is almost complete. So are little by little also artwork parts of Jatulintarha (Troy Town), nine of them like there are building masses in the community centre. Work at the site has its challenges and joys. Everything is available – from professional advice to cranes moving on wheels, exciting to ride, dodging just-plastered walls. In working the wall artworks, we had the honour to work together with plastering firm Fingerroos Oy. There certainly was physical work for us, too. Long days stretched so that getting back to the hotel it was hard to find an open place to eat.

All doesn’t always go to plan, no matter how much has been studied in advance. Fortunately, earlier experiences, creativity, tenacity and above all the professional skill found in plenty at every worksite come to help then. And every problem tends to get resolved. The most exciting part is still ahead: working the large floor artworks together with Betomix Oy. It may not be too early to say that everything will be ready by autumn, when schoolgoers take over the lovely building designed by Architects’ Office Perko.
