The Eksote Central Hospital will be built after all

After a long process, the council of the South Karelia Social and Health Care District (Eksote) decided in its meeting on 12/2/2015 to approve the proposal of its administrative board, a plan for a new emergency and inpatient ward building, adjoining the Eksote Central Hospital. The building project is due to be implemented during the years 2015–2018.

For our studio, this means a lot or work in the next months, because we, together with Arkkitehtuuritoimisto (Architects’ Office) Ovaskainen Oy, are in charge of the principal and architectural planning of the destination.  At the moment, we’re working on the final space arrangements, adapting special planning to the whole and preparing building permit images.

A good and central location for the new building has already been found, and the functions have been integrated as a part of the old structure. Henceforth, the designer only has to take care that the strong overall idea also works on the level of details, so that the users will in time have an all-round functioning and beautiful hospital at their disposal.
