STAR GUEST Kirsi Pitkänen: Art to the Hospital seminar

The seminar will present the possibilities of the percent principle in a built environment, focussing particularly on integrated artworks and their possibilities. At best, the artist works as an expert and team member in building projects, in co-operation with the architect, the developer, the interior designer and other experts. The purpose of the seminar is to discuss the matter from as many perspectives as possible.
The speakers include artist-architect couple Jaana Partanen and Heikki Lamusuo and co-ordinator Matti Tainio of the T Hospital, Turku. Partanen & Lamusuo have actively participated, for example, in the new building and reparation projects of the Kuopio University Hospital, where their latest commission is the recently completed Evolution artwork, of an area of 1,500 m2, in the façade of the hospital. The picture material of the artwork includes microscope images from inside the human being.
