Electroencephalograms and other movements of the mind on display at the Voipaala Art Centre and still for a moment at the Kuopio Art Museum

At the same time with the Backlight’14 photography festival, the Voipaala Art Centre presents artist Jaana Partanen’s Mental Alchemy – Harry Potter layer exhibition. Both present interesting perspectives to photography. Harry Potter layer includes mobile 3D photographic works whose contents change according to the viewpoint. An artwork in which electroencephalograms fly in the air changing their form has been selected in the invitation. The model of the image wears an electrode cap like a swimming cap whose electrodes measure the functioning of the brain. What moves in our mind can be transformed with the device into a visual form visible to all. Fortunately, our train of thought cannot be deduced with precision from the curves, but maybe that is the future…

Other interesting movements of the mind to be discovered at the Voipaala Art Centre from 6 September to 16 November, 2014.
You are also warmly welcomed to the opening of the exhibition on 5 September from 5 p.m. onwards.

Matrix layer, the middle part of the Mental Alchemy trilogy, remains on display at the Kuopio Art Museum till 6 September!
