The Mental Alchemy series culminates in its final part
Artist Jaana Partanen’s Mental Alchemy trilogy is getting its final touches in the artist’s hands. The first part of the series, Harry Potter layer, saw the light of day in 2011. Its 3D photographic artworks transported the spectator’s to the secrets of the mind and consciousness through portraits of people versed in them. The middle part, Matrix layer, completed in 2014, focused on the world of dreams and dream research with its interactive media artworks.
The final part of the series, Avatar layer, examines communication between nature and man. Its emphasis is firstly on the similar characteristics of nature, animals and people. What visual form will the last part get? The whole series is realised utilising the latest 3D techniques, but what kinds of openings will the Avatar layer bring to the topic? That knowledge remains with the artist, but it will certainly be something interesting and pleasing to the mind!
