STAR GUEST Katja Hedberg: Tattis celebrates Women’s Bank

The festive product designed by Partanen & Lamusuo for Women’s Bank is a modern seat for the garden, the forest or the campfire.

Tattis is beautiful design in its simplicity, but also a necessary utility article. The one-legged Tattis can be seen as a modern version of a milking stool, an inherent part of Finnish folk tradition. Tattis is a universal product which could be useful in African countries as well, for example, in cooking outdoors. This builds a natural bridge to Women’s Bank and its project countries.

”We’ve travelled a lot and also seen squalor. We ended up in co-operation with Women’s Bank, because the most efficient way of removing poverty is education”, Jaana Partanen and Heikki Lamusuo point out.

The projects of Women’s Bank focus on arranging quality education for women in developing countries.

”It’s fantastic, if we can support this important work”, the couple says.

Tattis is made of glued pine and treated with earthy colours. There are three colour options. Because the leg and the top of the Tattis are detachable, the colours can also be mixed. The legs come in two heights. The Tattis is handmade.

The sales price of the Tattis is 50 euros. The proceeds go to Women’s Bank in full. Inquiries on the product can be sent to the address kuopio@naistenpankki.fi.
