STAR GUEST Aku Jaakkola: A cinema project in Rovaniemi

Bio Rex Cinemas modernises and extends cinema Maxim in Rovaniemi in co-operation with Partanen & Lamusuo Ltd.

Cinema Maxim is over 25 years old, and it has come to end of the road in its present form. The technical requirements of a cinema and the expansion of the repertory along with digitalisation have changed the operation in the past few years. The two old theatres of the cinema will be modernised completely, and three new theatres and a new shopping space will be built.

Partanen & Lamusuo has designed Bio Rex’s brand appearance since 2004, and joint projects have been implemented in five cinemas. The Rovaniemi project is a natural part of this continuum and the last product of the continuous development work. Common themes for the design work have since the beginning been an imposing appearance and a festive ambiance, a bit of luxury to daily life. These themes will be continued and developed. Special attention will be paid to making every seat in the theatre a number one spot. Quality always precedes quantity, and the movie experience will be perfect both in the back corner and on the front row.

Going to the movies is an experience, and the design supports this from the front door to the theatre. This is for us an absolute requirement which we will work for in the future as well.
