MATRIX, PART 3: Z Vector – real-time sound reactive graphics
The over two-year journey of the Z Vector visualisation program, based on real-time graphics and created by Janne Karhu and myself, began from a spontaneous music video project. Through the music, it moved to the stages of the world and from there to the Matrix layer exhibition. People in the industry know how difficult the designing and implementation of a new creative tool is – most such tools never achieve production capability. The work we put into Z Vector: over two thousand hours of development, hundreds of hours of testing and tens of performances around the world culminate in many ways in the Matrix layer exhibition. I am ever more convinced that we have succeeded in creating something new: a tool to create visual landscapes which at best both fascinate and enfold you – just like a good dream.
