Memory and meaning of a photograph: a picture of an angel from forty years ago
Maestro Topi Ikäläinen visited the Niirala kindergarten forty years ago and took a picture of an angel figure in a Christmas play – me. I remember well that day. I had got the smallest wings and a real candle to bear. And maybe because of that I was not allowed to sing! Year after year that photograph appeared in the press and on record covers, and friends and family members always remembered to give me a ring. I heard that even president Kekkonen liked that picture. Fortunately, I got to experience that respectful ambiance in the media as an angel-figured little girl. It was a good school for a future artist wishing you a merry Christmas on behalf of the whole Pa-La team.
Exhibition of Topi Ikäläinen’s magnificent photographs at The VB Photographic Centre in Kuopio until 6th of January 2013.
