Mental Alchemy and man’s internal forms in hospital planning

Some ten years ago our daughter was admitted to the Kuopio University Hospital. Morning and evening my architect husband Heikki Lamusuo and I walked through the lobby of the hospital and had both unknowingly pondered the malformation of the space. What should be done to make it more welcoming? The escalator should be removed, the space be opened to the patio, and so on. Four years ago we received an invitation to a competition for the renovation of the lobby of the Kuopio University Hospital, and we won it with our Nucleus (Tuma) proposal. Now that escalator has just been removed, the space has been opened to the patio with big windows, and beautiful arched glass walls will limit the spacious, nucleus-like atrium. Cause or consequence, medical thoughts also made their way to my art, to make a part of Mental Alchemy. Could one then think that today’s thoughts are tomorrow’s acts, by means of which dreams come true?
